Talk 2

Title:
How to deliver video over the internet

Speaker:
Vitalii Poliakov - DIANA

Abstract:
Video delivery over the Internet has always been a challenging task for Internet Service Providers. They started to tackle this problem by simply adding capacity to their networks. It worked at first, but these times are long gone: amount of users interested in video streaming today is higher than ever; together with advancements in video-related technologies they create an unprecedented strain onto Service Providers' networks - and situation will only get worse in future. In the shed of this, research community is busy studying more clever ways to manage video streaming in the Internet, and in this talk I will present some of these advancements while explaining how does video streaming work in computer networks.
