Title

Be visible, be heard, be published: a short guide

Abstract

This is not a scientific talk, yet it is about helping you to publish your science. I will present some best practices, tools and tips to be: more visible, be visible in a "better" way, and most importantly to get your research work out there for others to see it. I will also discuss how to measure your impact in the scientific community.

Title

Numerical computation robustness using geometry as an example.

Abstract

Algorithms are designed for a machine model with exact real arithmetic, meaning using numbers defined using infinite precision.
However in practice floating point-numbers are used in their place and this may cause implementations to fail. This failure may manifest in an incorrect output, an infinite loop and more.
Using a few geometric algorithm implementations with such failures I'll attempt to give you an idea of how to know in which case you should care about robustness in numerical computations.
