Topological analysis methods for Big Data: Persistent homology of the cosmic web
Abstract
The universe consists of 3 main ingredients: dark energy, dark matter and radiation. These ingredients determine the history and evolution of the universe, in particular how matter accumulates, clumps, and forms galaxies, stars and planets. On the largest scales, galaxies form clusters and superclusters while arranging themselves in a filamentary structure called the cosmic web. We analyse the information encoded in this structure using methods of topological data analysis, aiming to find differences between cosmological models.

The circadian clock, the cell cycle and their interactions: mathematical modeling and analysisAbstract
The cell cycle and the circadian clock are two major cyclic processes at the basis of cell growth and development. Circadian disruption and cell cycle deregulation are at the origin of many malignant diseases. Through mathematical modeling and analysis, we would like to understand the links between the two cyclic processes and the relevance of their coupling for cell development and other biological aspects.
